And Then Some

So what makes us happy? I think it is the perception of something individual that makes one happy. Since happy is just a feeling, or human emotion, then it is always in a state of flux. That which is forever changing, is a hard emotion to maintain. Therefore, I think that happiness is not a place we should strive to reach, but an emotion we should enjoy when it is there. Overall, life is not a series of random events, but a cause and effect based on our interpretations of the events. Everyone has the power to be happy or sad in every event. This is why the person who seems to have the least can be the happiest. They know how to appreciate their own emotions. Sometimes too many things cloud our vision for the actual state of things, robbing us of precious enjoyment of our life. I am not saying that when you are struggling to make you monthly bills that you should feel happy, rather, to be glad you can feel frustrated, angry, or sad. Because you can feel this means you are alive. Part of the "Be Here now" theory. This won't make life better, but it sure can taste different. Because although the choices we make can scare us, affect others, and sometimes be uncomfortable, they are still OUR choices. No one can make those choices for us. Each person makes their own, sometimes based on others expectations or feelings, sometimes from fear of bodily harm, or other tragic events, but they are our choices. And they are made to get us to the ultimate goal of a seeming positive emotion such as happiness, euphoria, or excitement. These emotions give us a physical response that the body likes. Therefore, we must admit that we alone are responsible for our choices, even if it doesn't help us achieve happiness.
